Recently, Caterpillar announced its investment in Lithos Energy battery technology company. The company is headquartered in San Rafael, California, USA and specializes in the design and manufacturing of impact resistant and high-performance battery solutions for non highway and marine applications.
Joe Creed, President of Caterpillar Energy and Transportation Group, stated:
The collaboration between Caterpillar and Lithos will provide strong support for us to provide customers with reliable electrified products and solutions. Regardless of the power source used, Cat ® (Carter) devices are designed to operate in harsh environments. As we continue to advance the research and development of electrified products, Lithos Energy's experience in manufacturing battery packs to cope with harsh operating conditions will become a valuable asset

Caterpillar's investment in Lithos Energy further demonstrates its commitment to helping customers achieve energy transformation by providing hybrid and pure electric equipment and power generation products based on advanced power source technology. Last year, Caterpillar exhibited four prototype battery driven devices and battery prototypes at the 2022 International Engineering Machinery Exhibition in Munich, Germany (bauma 2022). In addition, its first battery powered large mining truck, CAT 793, was successfully operated at the Tucson Test Site in Arizona.
